Hi, my name is Cailven
I build the things that haven't been built yet.
21 years of interactive engineering and full-stack development. From augmented reality in the Flash era, to WebGL shaders and Unreal Engine virtual production, to AI-driven interfaces today - I've been doing the same thing all along: turning unproven technology into experiences people can actually touch.
Check out my work ->About Me
I'm Cailven. I started out in 2005 as a designer - print, motion, UI. Somewhere along the way I got more interested in how things actually get built than in how they look in a mockup, started writing code, and never stopped.
For 21 years I've kept ending up in the same place: wherever a technology has just appeared and nobody has figured out how to use it yet. In 2009 I shipped an augmented reality project with Flash and ARToolKit - it became my company's project of the year. Around the same time I was building multi-touch installations, and wrote a custom UDP layer to solve hardware sync problems nobody had a library for. In 2016 I built a particle fireworks piece in Canvas with Pixi.js and Three.js, wrote GLSL shaders to make it run on phones, and used WebSockets to sync it across dozens of devices at once. In 2021 I built a face-tracking mini-game and rewrote the recognition pipeline three times to support every device it needed to run on, including HarmonyOS. In 2022 I built a virtual studio with HTC Vive and Unreal Engine, with real-time green screen compositing in Blueprints.
Being a designer who became an engineer makes me a slightly odd fit on both sides: I know why an animation needs 300ms instead of 500, and I also know what those 300ms cost in the render pipeline.
These days I'm pointing the same curiosity at AI - not AI as a coding assistant (that's table stakes), but the harder question: how do you design an interface when the thing behind it is uncertain, thinks for itself, and sometimes gets it wrong?
Currently working with:
- Three.js / WebGL / GLSL
- Unreal Engine
- TypeScript
- Vue 3 · React
- Canvas · Pixi.js
- Node.js
- TensorFlow.js
- AI / LLM application development

Get In Touch
I'm currently open to new opportunities - creative technology, real-time 3D and XR, automotive HMI, and AI-driven interaction products. If you have work that needs someone to turn "can this be done" into "this is done," I'd like to hear about it.
And if you just want to talk shop or say hi, my inbox is always open.
